NOTE:  Due to transportation issues, the Fisk University Choir Concert was rescheduled for Nov. 19.  The following article includea the updated info.

We are delighted to celebrate the 100th year of ministry of our Evanston partner Sherman United Methodist Church by sharing our building for the Sherman UMC Fisk University Choir Concert.  This annual concert takes place on Saturday, November 19, at 7 pm in the First Church sanctuary.

Located in Nashville, Fisk University is a historically black university in Nashville, TN. Each October our Sherman UMC neighbors host this concert which raises funds for scholarships for Fisk University students and the ministries of Sherman UMC.  The event has grown significantly over the years, “always paying homage to the original Fisk Jubilee Singers’ introduction of spirituals to the world, this choir’s repertoire encompasses the full range of African American sacred music.”

This event raises funds for scholarships that enable first-generation African-American students to attend a HBCU.
