New participants are invited to join the Wednesday Morning Bible Study this summer. The group of 12-15 persons gathers weekly on Zoom to study and discuss topics chosen by group members — sometimes scripture or Bible study curriculum, other times books by contemporary or older religious writers.
Beginning June 1, group discussion will center on Marcus Borg’s book Reading the Bible Again for The First Time. Borg, a giant in the field of New Testament scholarship and a revered voice for liberal Christianity, frequently pointed to the importance of carefully understanding the cultural context of scripture rather than taking the Bible literally. Check out this book review for more on his approach to scripture..
The Wednesday Morning Bible Study will meet online all summer to accommodate those who are out of town over the summer months. Leadership will be provided by members of the group.
