SUMMARY:Festival Choir Concert
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, May 19th\, the Festival Choir of First United Methodist Church of Evanston presents Robert Ray’s “Gospel Mass.” The program will also feature the “Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis” by Robert A. Harris and Charles Villier Standford’s “Te Deum.” Robert Ray (1946-2022) is a graduate of Northwestern and his “Gospel Mass” (1979) has been performed around the world including several performances at Carnegie Hall. Although the text of the Mass ordinary\, the Magnificat\, and the Te Deum are often sung in Latin\, all three works on the program have been set by the composers in English. The 7:30pm concert is free and open to the public.
